Automated packaging industry is the general name of automated packaging in beer, beverage, dairy, food, paper, electrical appliances, communications, furniture, clothing, building materials and other industries. Hot melt adhesive makes automatic packaging possible due to its characteristics of rapid curing and fast bonding positioning. With the development of packaging equipment technology and hot melt adhesive technology, the automatic packaging speed is getting higher and higher, and the automatic packaging speed of beer, beverage and other products reaches 80 boxes per minute. It can be said that the hot melt adhesive bonding technology has played a key role in the automatic packaging technology enriching the supply of people's daily necessities and making the daily necessities low cost and fast. According to the information released at the World Adhesive Conference, the degree of automation in developed countries such as Europe, America, Japan and other countries is much higher than that in China, and the application of hot melt adhesives accounts for the largest proportion in automated packaging. Equipment and process    

        

Start up speed: high speed production lines often reduce the requirements of opening time but increase the requirements of curing speed.       

     

Use temperature: increasing the glue temperature will prolong the opening time and slow down the curing speed and vice versa. Substrate temperature and ambient temperature have a great influence on the bonding strength. The substrate temperature is low, which is easy to absorb the energy of hot melt adhesive, reduce the temperature of adhesive, improve the viscosity of adhesive, reduce the penetration, and vice versa.     

       

Opening time: opening time of equipment = opening distance / production line speed, which should be shorter than that of hot melt adhesive.     

       

Pressure: enough pressure is conducive to penetration, infiltration and curing of hot melt adhesive.            

 

Pressure holding time: the pressure holding time of the equipment shall be designed to be longer than the curing time of the hot-melt adhesive, and the bonding pressure shall be removed after the hot-melt adhesive is fully cured.            

 

Glue consumption: increasing glue consumption can improve the infiltration and penetration of glue, improve the bonding effect and adhesive force, extend the opening time, slow down the curing speed. The glue consumption is moderate, which is the guarantee of bonding effect, and the pursuit of reducing cost cannot be unlimited.            

 

Gluing mode: under the same amount of glue, the spraying mode with large surface area has short opening time and fast curing speed.

 

Main application industries of hot melt adhesive for automatic packaging            

 

The package type packing is followed by: automatic packing of cartons for cans / bottles of packaging products such as beer, instant noodles, coke, sports drinks, herbal tea, fruits and vegetables, vinegar industry, lubricating oil, etc. the opening time of hot melt adhesive is required to match with the sealing speed of the equipment;            

Straw sticking: paper bags such as milk, tea drinks, herbal tea and Vitasoy stick to the straw. The main equipment is Tetra Pak, which requires that the curing time of hot-melt adhesive match the sticking speed, and the high and low temperature resistance of hot-melt adhesive match the existing environment of the product;            

 

Paper plate carton followed: such as beer, red bull, soymilk, can drink, drinking pure water, etc;            

 

Paper box sealing: for example, packaging candy, biscuit, frozen food, ice cream paper box, drawing paper box, Chinese and Western medicine, cigarette, leisure food, etc. There are many brands of automatic packaging production paper, and the requirements for bonding are roughly the same as package sealing box;            

 

Pet transparent box packaging: this kind of hot-melt adhesive is mainly sec pressure-sensitive or PUR, which requires white and tasteless water, high bonding strength, high cohesive viscosity of adhesive, and strong resilience.
